Phoenix Players Selected for Aussie Sharks Squad at Oceania Qualifier

Victorian Phoenix Athletes Selected for 2025 U20 World Championships

Water Polo Australia has officially announced the 20&U Men’s team set to compete at the 2025 World Aquatics U20 Men’s Water Polo Championships, to be held in Zagreb, Croatia from 14–21 June.

We are incredibly proud to congratulate Daniel Magasanik and Nick Mordes on their selection in the Australian team. This is a tremendous achievement and a testament to the dedication, discipline, and hard work they have shown throughout the season.

Daniel’s selection follows his recent debut with the Ord Minnett Aussie Sharks, marking an exciting chapter in his water polo journey.

A squad of 15 athletes has been selected to represent Australia on the world stage, following the final selection camp held in Sydney at the conclusion of the 2025 Australian Water Polo League finals.

20&U Men’s Head Coach Dragan Bakic said:

“It has been a pleasure to work with this group of athletes up until this point, and I look forward to seeing how this group can grow and develop as we continue to work towards the World Championships.
The World Championships are the pinnacle event on the calendar for our pathway athletes, and the boys should be proud of their selection to represent Australia in Croatia.”

Congratulations to all 15 athletes and the three named reserves – especially our own Victorian Phoenix representatives. We can’t wait to cheer you on in Croatia!
